Abstract

The Humble Self-Concept Method (HSCM) is a novel theoretical framework designed to foster psychological resilience by reconstructing fragile self-beliefs into humble, unconditional worth-based systems. HSCM addresses a species-wide skills gap in self-concept stability. It integrates humanistic psychology, cognitive-behavioral principles, self-compassion theory, trauma-informed approaches, and critical thinking development stages to promote intellectual humility and compassionate growth. Its core 10-step process, spanning ego disarmament, memory reframing, emotional presence, boundary alignment, and collective stewardship, is presented in three versions: Theory-Only (cognitive focus) and Mind & Body Congruent (somatic integration) for self-guided or facilitated use, and Trauma-Safe (nervous system prioritization) for self-guided use in mild trauma cases or supervised use by trained professionals for moderate-to-severe trauma.Grounded in a logical proof of unconditional worth (e.g., axioms like "ought implies can" and moral fairness), HSCM posits a shift from scarcity-driven defensiveness to resilient adaptability, as illustrated by the Fragile/Resilient Self-Belief Model. Supporting tools, including progress assessments, reflective prompts, and conflict analysis frameworks, enhance practical implementation for self-guided or facilitated use..Potential applications center on proactive prevention (e.g., modeling and adolescent education to build resilience skills early, reducing future problems and healing needs) and reactive therapy (e.g., shame reduction for existing fragility), with hypothesized extensions to societal challenges (e.g., fostering discourse to potentially reduce polarization). Preliminary testimonials suggest benefits like enhanced emotional freedom and relational safety, though holistic empirical validation is absent. Limitations include cultural assumptions and metacognitive demands, with future directions emphasizing RCTs, cultural adaptations, and digital integrations. HSCM posits humility as a rational imperative for well-being, offering a cohesive pathway to transcend self-deception and embrace mutual dignity. This preprint invites empirical scrutiny to realize its transformative potential.HSCM posits humility as a rational imperative for well-being, offering a cohesive pathway to transcend self-deception and embrace mutual dignity.
